Resilience: Turning My Life's Challenges into My Greatest Strength

Resilience isn’t just a quality; it’s a way of life for those of us who’ve had tough childhoods. When you’ve experienced trauma, you know all too well what it feels like to be rejected, disappointed, and let down. These moments can feel overwhelming, but they’re also the very experiences that build your strength and shape you into someone who refuses to give up.

Being resilient means you’re used to hearing “no” and turning it into motivation to push even harder. It’s about recognizing that setbacks aren’t the end of the road, but rather steppingstones on your journey to success. Every time someone told me that I couldn’t, I found a way to prove that I could. Every time life knocked me down, I got back up, stronger and more determined than before. This gave me the self-confidence to bet on myself every time! I decided a long time ago I would no longer count myself out. I had already beaten the odds. From this day forward I was playing the game of life to win!

Success isn’t something that’s just handed to you—it’s won through persistence, and an unwavering belief in yourself. When you’ve been faced with unfortunate circumstances out of your control, you know what it’s like to have a constant feeling of uncertainty, to feel like the world is against you. To be insecure and to feel unworthy of the favor God has declared over you. But it’s in those moments of despair and uncertainty that your true strength shines through. The ability to keep moving forward, to keep striving for more, is what makes you stand out.

Disappointments, losses and letdowns are inevitable, but they don’t define you—the way you respond to them does. Resilience is about using every “no,” every closed door, as fuel to keep going. It’s about refusing to let the world dictate your worth. I’ve faced some of my toughest battles, and yet, I’m still standing, still fighting. There are some situations that I still don’t know how I overcame the hurt, betrayal and sadness….But God!

I never once let it change my heart posture. I learned radical acceptance that nothing in life is constant but change.

The strength that is inside of you has prepared you for success in ways that others might not fully understand. But that’s ok, don’t let that bother you. Remember you, and you alone are responsible for your dreams!

I heard Bishop T.D. Jakes say “what you lost on your road to self-discovery was just a prerequisite for what you are about to gain”.

Life has taught me that success isn’t about avoiding failure, but about how quickly I can bounce back from it. It’s about having the courage to keep going, even when my future is uncertain. It’s about knowing that every disappointment was temporary, and that my perseverance to keep going will eventually lead me to where I’m called to be.

Every hardship, trial or setback in life is the blueprint to building you into the person you’re meant to be. Have reassurance that you are no longer just surviving—You are now thriving, and that’s something no one can ever take away from you!

Warm Regards,

Les Marie
